This weekend we celebrated the Dutch national feast of Sinterklaas . We sing songs and drink chocolate milk and have a family time. Then Zwarte piet came around knocked on the door really loud, and threw a lot of Pepernoten and candy around the door! He left a whole lot of presents for us in the hall and so  after Riley was not so scared any more, we collected them and started unpacking. Al together a fun evening and a very exiting time….

This weekend Opa and Oma came al the way from Holland, to celebrate Sinterklaas with us. Just for the weekend, they came over on Friday and left Monday morning at 7. We did have a very nice time with them! Saturday after diner Zwarte Piet came and knocked loudly on the door and threw a lot of candy. Riley and the rest where scared. but when we looked in the bedroom he left a whole lot of presents! And thanks to all the “hulp” pieten, we had a swell time!

Today was the day we as Dutch people celebrate  Sinterklaas, this is very popular in Holland, even more than Christmas!!! So we sang songs and “zwarte piet” came by and Threw Pepernoten and left a lot of presents and candy. Riley was all exited and a bit scared when Zwarte Piet banged on the door to throw all the candy in the house, but after we explained that it was sweets and there is more on the stairs, he slowly followed Daddy up the stairs. In Riley’s room were a lot of presents and all of the scarness was gone!! We went downstairs again to unwrap all the presents and candy and the Sint even made a very nice rhyme
